The red wolf stalked through the shadows one warm spring evening. The sunset lit fire across the rippling waters of Silver Lake, a strange beauty reminding him of certain faes he knew. A yawn parted his jaws as Eraghot appeared upon the shoreline. The Son of the Desert was waiting as the full moon appeared overhead. He was waiting, but he did not sit. He remained standing as the minutes then hours passed. His long limbs did not tire as time wore on, nor did he care to stretch them if they had. He had lived and learned in the desert from those who would forever be there, and that knowledge and skill would stay with him just as long. Simply standing still throughout the night was no test compared to other things he had endured.
Crimson orbs appeared in the darkness behind the tall brute. They shimmered and glistened like blood when the full moon's light hit them, and their gaze burned upon the red wolf's form.
Eraghot did not turn to greet his visitor, nor did he truely move at all. He could feel the gaze upon him, but there was no effect. Patience had settled in his heart and remained. If this was the right wolf, which he already knew it was, then they would step forward to meet him. The red wolf needn't waste his own energy.

"I see you have come, my son," the black brute said smoothly as he stepped forward from the shadows. "And I also see your heart has yet to make its decision."
"As it always shall remain," Eraghot replied before turning to face his father.
A smirk curled upon Lord Bartholomew's maw. His scarlet crimson orbs gleamed as they met their clones upon the younger wolf. "You always have proved yourself to be quite the independent," the black brute commented, a slight tint of pride to his silkly voice. "Never have you allowed yourself to fall into the same category as all others."
"Must be my way," the red wolf replied, a bitterness making itself even more appearant in his voice and eyes.

"So, my son," Lord Bartholomew said, slowly circling the younger brute. "When shall you break the chains and allow your heart to bathe in the darkness it so greatly desires?"
"Never," Eraghot hissed, his large pointed ears flattening against his skull.
"You cannot run forever, dear Eraghot," the black brute whispered in his son's ear before circling again. "Your limbs may be long, your heart strong, and your endurance unbeaten..." Two pairs of scarlet orbs met, neither blinking nor breaking the intense gaze. "But darkness soars and can twist through any wall of thorns. It will follow you wherever you go and pull at your heart no matter how many Light deeds you commit."
Eraghot said nothing but simply watched. It was like a battle of wits or endurance through the two brutes' gazes, and he was determined to win. No wolf had ever stood strong against his father, he knew. And every wolf that tried had met a horrible end or were soon to meet it. But, there was the destiny of the red wolf on his side, and he would stand strong.

"I will be watching, my son," the black brute smirked before backing into the darkness and disappearing within it.
The red wolf stood still for several minutes before he turned toward the lake again. The silvery waters were hinting of the light of the sunrise soon to come, and before long the ripples were tinted blood red. Eraghot let out a soft sigh before turning to disappear into the wind just as the sun peaked above the horizon to search for him.
